Canada may open borders to International Students opting to study in Coronavirus-ready Institutions

In a big relief to student communities, Canada will be allowing international students to travel to Canada from October 20, provided their designated-learning institutions are pre-approved for a coronavirus-readiness plan.

A designated-learning institution is a college/university which is approved by the respective provincial or territorial governments to host international students. Additionally, these institutions must now have a coronavirus-readiness plan approved by the health authorities of their respective place of location.

Such readiness plans will include details on health and travel requirements before arrival and help with quarantine plans including guidance in acquiring necessities like groceries and medicine. The complete list of all the designated-learning institutions can be found here, as and when updated.

Many international students who aspire to study abroad in Canada live in countries with limited access to the internet, and time differences that make for impractical class timings. Moreover, students choose to study abroad for the amount of practical exposure they may gain during the entire study course which cannot be obtained from online classes.
