More Immigrants to be Nominated by Ontario This 2019

Ontario is one of the most popular Canadian provinces which has been a destination of choice by immigrants from all parts of the world. This year, Ontario has put forward a request of bringing in 1000 additional nominations making it a total of 7600 nominations all due to the strong demand for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program is one of the many Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs which allows the particular province to nominate candidates from the Express Entry Pool to obtain a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa. The previous year, Ontario issued a huge 6,600 nominations to Express Entry candidates to apply for a Canadian PR which was the largest granted through the Provincial Nominee Program that year. In addition to that, Ontario also received 250 additional nominations towards the year making it a total of 6,850 nominations that particular year.

Ontario this year has requested an additional 1000 nominations for this year. This actually reflects the Canadian Government’s increase in yearly nomination targets. The set target of 61,000 is an increase of 6000 nominations when compared to the previous year’s target of 55,000.

Ontario has three immigration streams linked to the Express Entry System. The Express Entry System introduced in 2015 is responsible for managing Canada’s three important economic immigration programs namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class Program.

Below mentioned is the split-up of Ontario’s provincial nominations during the year 2018:

  • The Human Capital Priorities Stream – 2190 nominations
  • Skilled Trades Stream – 648 nominations
  • French – Speaking Skilled Worker Stream – 387 nominations
  • International Student Stream – 1254 nominations
  • Foreign Worker Stream – 934 nominations
  • In-Demand Skills Stream – 35 nominations
  • PhD Graduate Stream – 175 nominations
  • Masters Graduate Stream – 1215 nominations
  • Business Streams – 12 nominations
