Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a hike in Canada immigration fees for 2022. The last price hike in immigration application fees was done in 2020 adjusted for rising inflation since 2002. The new price hike in Canada permanent residency application fees will be effective from April 30, 2022.
The rise in Canadian immigration fees will apply to the economic & family class applicants, along with work/study permit holders, and humanitarian classes.

Canada Immigration fees will be revised again in two years based on the applicable Consumer Price Index and rounded to the nearest $5. The next fee increase at the federal level is expected in 2024.
Even though Canada immigration fees for processing applications under various programs are hiked frequently, it still remains competitive with countries like Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, having open and similar immigration systems.
Current State of Canada Immigration 2022
The revised Immigration Levels Plan for 2022-2024 will welcome about 1.7 million newcomers over the next three years including economic, family, and refugee class immigrants. IRCC will let Canada Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) take the center stage in inviting more than 83,500 immigrants to apply for Canada immigration in 2022. Further, one can easily obtain Canada permanent residency with a successful provincial nomination.
Meanwhile, Canada has cut Express Entry admissions in half for 2022 mainly due to increasing backlogs in the FSWP & CEC applications in the pool. However, IRCC will return to normal Express Entry admissions levels by 2024 when it targets the arrival of 111,5000 Express Entry immigrants then.
After four years of reducing immigration targets, Quebec has returned to the target of welcoming over 50,000 immigrants in 2022. It is encouraging to note that about 65 per cent will arrive through its economic-class immigration programs. This increases the scope for engineers, doctors, IT specialists, Web designers, etc. to plan their Canadian immigration.
The study in Canada campaign is attracting a lot of international students to pursue their higher education in the top universities and colleges of the country. According to the official statistics, over the period 2008 to 2018, the annual number of new Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holders increased six-fold, from 10,300 to 64,700. Close to three-quarters of all PGWP holders transitioned to permanent residence within five years.
