Canada Permanent Residency via Provincial Nominee Program

Issuing invitations for permanent residency is the exclusive domain of the federal government. Provincial nominations for international students may, however, fast-track the total time taken to receive an invitation to apply for Canada Permanent Residency.

Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) invites Express of Interest (EOI) for provincial nominations under various streams such as Human Capital Priorities stream, Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream, Masters Graduate, and Ph.D. Graduate streams, etc. Additionally, it also nominates candidates registered in the federal Express Entry pool.

Ontario ranks EOI profiles based on a number of human capital factors. The OINP scoring system is different for every stream. Other than skill level and work experience, it also takes into account wage, education, official language ability, and the region of study or work.

The province also allocates 10 points at its discretion to respond to labor market needs.

In fact, nominees under Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream or Express Entry Skilled Trades stream or Ontario Tech Draw get preferential treatment to obtain Canada permanent residency. The inclusion of additional 600 CRS points makes the entire process of applying for Canada PR through Canada Express Entry even simpler.

Usually, Ontario PNP draws specify a CRS range between which eligible candidates are invited to apply for provincial nominations. Post the February 22 provincial draw, the Provincial Nominee Program of Ontario allow Express Entry candidates whose CRS score are above the maximum range to apply for the nomination.
