Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new draw targeting French-speaking candidates in the Express Entry system. On April 24, 2024, IRCC issued 1,400 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency to candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 410.
This draw focused on applicants with strong French language skills, as demonstrated by meeting the minimum Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) score of 7 in all four abilities: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
The minimum CRS score of 410 is the highest for a French-targeted draw so far in 2024. This indicates a slight decrease in the pool of available French-speaking candidates compared to previous draws. However, it remains significantly lower than the CRS cut-off for the most recent general draw on April 23, which required a minimum score of 529.
This is indeed a good news for French-speaking individuals seeking permanent residency in Canada. It demonstrates the ongoing need for French speakers in the workforce and highlights the government’s commitment to a bilingual Canada.
