61% of Canadian Population Growth in 2018 Was Due to Immigrants
Canada witnessed a major population growth in the year 2018 and the total Canadian population reached 37,314,442 as of 1st January 2019. This was followed by a record number of increase in immigrants in the fourth quarter of the year 2018.

Canada witnessed population growth over a half million the previous year (5,28,421), out of which a total of 4,25,245 were new immigrants & temporary residents. The Canadian Government in its fourth quarter released its multiple immigration plans for the year 2019 to 2021. The targets for this year under the economic immigration pathway is 3,30,800 for this particular year which ascends to 3,50,000 for 2021 which actually is one per cent of Canada’s population.
The provincial nominee program targets for this year is 61,000 new nominees whereas, for the year 2021, it has been set to 71,300. The Provincial Nominee Program, brought into existence during the year 1998 allows the Canadian provinces which participate to nominate candidates from the Express Entry Pool to obtain a Canadian PR.
It is quite evident that the Canadian Government is taking effective measures to welcome more immigrants to move to the country and the stats & figures stand as solid proof for the same.
