The Canadian Government in its recent announcement said that it is to admit 2,000 more temporary workers under the Canadian Provincial Nominee Program. This will eventually be providing Permanent Residence pathways at the intermediate skill level.
The Provincial Nominee Program is an immigration pathway which almost all the Canadian provinces have on its own. The participating provinces will be allowed to nominate candidates from the Express Entry Pool, candidates who seem to fit the province’s needs.
Canadian Immigration Minister said that the temporary international workers will be fulfilling the prolonged labor market needs which could contribute to the economic growth of the economy. The Immigration Minister also stated that the additional spaces will be providing opportunities for immigrants to gain a permanent resident visa.
The Canadian Government came up with this announcement immediately after introducing the new Interim Pathway for Caregivers which is a temporary permanent resident pathway that opened on the 4th of March and will be remaining open till the 4th of June 2019.
The Canadian Government has an admission target of 61,000 under the Provincial Nominee Program for this particular year (which is already an increase of 6,000 when compared with the previous year).
It should be noted that the Provincial Nominee Programs of provinces like British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario & more are extremely active in taking candidates who seem to be a fit for the province. With the Canadian Government looking forward to take in more than one million immigrants within the next three years, the provincial nominee programs could become more active in the upcoming days.
