Canada Unveils its Historic Immigration Levels Plan

October month is ending on a historic note with Canada releasing its Immigration Levels Plan for 2021-2023. 

It is for the first time that Canada will welcome over 400,000 immigrants for permanent residence every year till 2023. A snapshot of target levels is as below:

  • 2021: 401,000 immigrants for Canada PR
  • 2022: 411,000 immigrants for Canada PR
  • 2023: 421,000 immigrants for Canada PR

Any foreign skilled worker without a prior work experience in the country or without a job offer can apply for permanent residence in Canada.  

 

Focus on Economic Immigration 

About 60% of all immigrants under the announced 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan will be under economic class programs, including Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program.

Earlier in March, just a week before the world went into lockdown, Canada pledged to welcome 341,000 new immigrants in 2020. Although the targets are unlike to be met, the Express Entry draw may cross 100,000 invitations to apply for Canada PR. 

 

Travel Restrictions Extended by One Month

Canada extends the ongoing travel restrictions by another month till November 30. These travel restrictions have been since March 18. Since then, several relaxations have been brought in place to avoid any adverse impact of immigration.
