Saskatchewan has been quite the active province in meeting the demands by taking in potential immigrants this year. Saskatchewan has been conducting draws on a frequent basis only to ensure that the in-demand occupations of the province are being met.

In the draw held on the 1^st of May, Saskatchewan invited 202 candidates who have work experience in the specified occupations to apply for a provincial nomination. Candidates with highest scores received an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination and the draw held on the 1^st of May required candidates to have a minimum score of 67.

Ontario, one of the most popular Canadian provinces has multiple pathways for immigration intakes which allows the province to meet its set demands of the province. One of the most notable immigration programs of the province is the Masters Graduates Stream which allows the province to nominate candidates to apply for a Canadian permanent residence.

Ontario reopened its Masters Graduate Stream on the 30^th of April and the limits were reached in no time. The limits were 1000 registrations and the limits were reached during this intake. In the latest Express Entry draw that took place on May 1, 2019, a total of 3350 candidates were invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required dropped slightly by one point to 450, compared to the previous draw held on April 17 when the minimum required score was 451

Tie-break rule was applied in the latest draw as in the previous draws, the time stamp given being November 5, 2018 at 12:27:07 UTC. It means all candidates with a CRS score of 450 and above were invited to apply in the May 1 Express Entry draw.

The latest draw is the ninth Express Entry draw of 2019. With 31250 ITAs already issued so far, it seems the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is right on the track of achieving this year’s economic immigration targets. As higher admission targets have been set for the years till 2021, it is all likely that the minimum CRS score requirement would drop further.

As per the updated Immigration Levels Plan of Canada for 2019-2021, the country will admit 256,000 candidates through the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class- the three economic immigration programs managed under the Express Entry during the plan period. Another 200000 candidates will be admitted through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). The minimum CRS score requirement may reduce further as the IRCC holds larger or more frequent draws during these years.

New Study says that entrepreneurs who have come from other countries and started off with entrepreneurship activities in Canada were responsible for the release of a new study which brought to light that the Immigrant-owned businesses create a huge number of job opportunities between the years 2003 and 2013.

British Columbia, one of the highly active provinces in taking immigrants to meet the demands of the province has conducted yet another draw that could meet the imminent needs. British Columbia in its draw held on the 23^rd of April issued 157 more invitations to candidates to apply for a provincial nominee program.

British Columbia issued invitations across its five Provincial Nominee Program streams. Candidates were required to have a minimum of 95 points to quality and a minimum of 105 points were required to qualify under the three steams which are the Express Entry Skilled Workers & International Graduates, plus direct provincial international graduates.

The Entry level and semi-skilled workers were expected to have a minimum of 75 points. Individuals who received a provincial nomination from British Columbia gain 600 additional CRS Scores which increases their chances to obtain an Invitation to Apply from the Canadian Government.

The minimum scores for the candidates to be met on the April 23^rd Draw are being mentioned below:

• Express Entry British Columbia Skilled Worker – 105
• Express Entry British Columbia International Graduate – 105

The Canadian Government has been making continuous efforts for reuniting the families and at the same time to meet its immigration goals for the year. One of the multiple things that the Canadian Government has planned is to have a target of 20,000 complete applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program.

The Canadian Parents and Grandparents program allows citizens of Canada and Canadian Permanent Residents who have been aged above 18 years to sponsor their parents and grandparents and migrate to Canada. IRCC for this year has a target of reaching 20,000 complete applications for the year 2019.

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada stated that the invitations are issued to interested sponsors in the same order they received the Interest to Sponsor Forms (forms that were received on the 18^th of January). The first round of invitations was issued on the 24^th of April and IRCC has stated that it may take another few days for the sponsors to receive their Invitations. IRCC has also stated that it might be conducting another round of invitations if it falls short to meet the target set for the year 2019. An interested sponsor who has received an invitation will only have 60 days to submit a complete sponsorship application.

An individual who has received an invitation should be submitting two complete applications at the same time (one is the sponsor application and the other is from the parents & grandparents) and IRCC has notified that sponsors should make use of all latest forms and read the instruction guide carefully before attempting to fill the form.

The Canadian Government in its 115^th Express Entry Draw issued 3.350 Invitations to Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The draw was held on the 17^th of April and the minimum cut – off scores for this particular draw was 451.

The Canadian Express Entry System is what manages the three most important economic immigration programs of Canada – the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class Program.

The 115^th draw had candidates invited with CRS Scores as low as 451. The tie-break rule for this particular draw was set as to April 2^nd, 2019 at 15:01:49 UTC which means that candidates who have a CRS Score of 451 and above and who have created an Express Entry Profile before the specified date received an ITA in this draw.

Candidates applying to create an Express Entry Profile will be assessed based on his/her age, work experience, educational qualification, language proficiency and be given points based out of 1200. On receiving an Invitation to Apply, the individual will have with him/her 60 days to submit a complete permanent resident application package.

The Canadian Government this year as of now has issued a total of 27,900 Invitations to Apply to Express Entry Candidates and the individual draws and the number of ITAs issued are being mentioned along with their CRS Scores:

Prince Edward Island, fondly called as the Million Acre Farm issued invitations to Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in its 18^th April draw. A total of 130 invitations were issued to candidates under the Express Entry, Labour Impact & Business Impact Streams.

Prince Edward Island is known for conducting monthly draws and inviting candidates who have submitted an Expression of Interest to its provincial nominee program. The draw that happened on the 18^th of April issued 130 invitations to candidates and the total number of invitations issued by Prince Edward Island through its provincial nominee programs for this year has become 570.

The split up of the 130 issued invitations were 113 to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates and the remaining 17 were issued to entrepreneur candidates belonging to the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream category.

A Brief Note on Express Entry, Labour Market Impact Invitations

Prince Edward Island’s Express Entry Category works along with the Canadian Federal Express Entry System. The Express Entry System is responsible for managing Canada’s three most economic immigration programs which are the Federal Skilled Worker Class program, the Federal Skilled Trades Class Program and the Canadian Experience Class Program. Candidates on receiving a provincial nomination certificate from Prince Edward Island will be receiving 600 additional CRS Scores to his/her total.

Prince Edward Island’s Labour Impact Category is divided into three Expression of Interest based streams:

• Skilled Workers
• International Graduates
• Critical Workers

It should be noted that Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry System and candidates applying for these streams should either be working in PEI or should be having an eligible full-time employment offer from an employer.

Entrepreneur Invitations

Foreign Entrepreneurs who look forward to run or invest in one of the businesses in PEI should be pursuing the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream. The lowest ranking candidate on the April 18^th draw has a score of 107 and this stream operates only on an Expression of Interest Basis.
