Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program is operated by the provincial government of Manitoba in association with the Canadian federal government to bring in the right candidates into the province by offering permanent residency.
The MPNP works through an Expression of Interest format that picks candidates with efficient work experience and candidates who plan to invest in a business in Manitoba. Applicants are invited to submit an Expression of Interest through the MPNP website and get ranked on the basis of work experience, language, age, education, and other adaptability factors of Manitoba.
There are 3 main streams in MPNP in which Manitoba offers Permanent Residency for foreigners. They are:
1. Skilled Workers Stream
This stream focuses on foreign nationals who plan to reside and earn in Manitoba and remain in their current working space. This stream contains certain eligibility criteria that are expected to be met by the applicant.
2. Skilled Workers Overseas
This stream is for applicants who live outside Manitoba but are related to the province through:
The criteria for the Skilled Workers Overseas stream are as follows:
- Your score for Manitoba Points Assessment Grid should be at least 60.
- You should have been firmly related to Manitoba either through family or friends who reside in Manitoba, work experience or education in Manitoba, or received an invitation based on your skill sets.
3.International Education Stream
3. International Student Entrepreneur Pilot
This stream invites a small number of people, 20 graduates a year to apply as nominees through entrepreneurship. You should produce an Expression of Interest on the Manitoba Assessment Grid.
If you receive an invitation to apply, then your application is accepted. You will get into an agreement with MPNP and start your business. Once your business is established successfully in 6 months, you will receive a provincial nomination.
The criteria you should meet if you’re applying through this category are:
- You should at least own 51% of the equity in the business.
- Your scores should be at least 7 CLB on a language test.
- You should contain a legit post-graduate work permit.
- You should have resided continuously in Manitoba even after your graduation.
- You should be under the age category between 21 to 35.
- You should produce settlements for a time period of 12 months.
- You should have pursued a full-time post-secondary program with a time period of 2 years in Manitoba.
- Your net worth will be validated and considered in assessing your business plan.
4. Business Investor Stream
The business investor stream consists of two categories:
1. The Entrepreneur
This category focuses on established and experienced entrepreneurs who plan to commence or procure business in Manitoba. This category contains certain criteria for the applicant and for the business:
- Your scores should be at least 5 CLB on a language test.
- You should have a minimum of CAD $500,000 as personal assets and in net business.
- You should have pursued education corresponding to the Canadian High School diploma.
- You should plan to invest at least CAD $250,000 in and around Winnipeg or a minimum of CAD $150,000 in any other community in Manitoba.
- You should have a minimum experience of 3 years in active business as an owner or a senior authority.
- You should at least own ⅓ of the equity of the business in Manitoba.
- You should participate and engage in active roles in the management of the business.
- You should offer a job for at least 1 person as a full-time employee.
- Your business must be considered eligible by the MPNP.
2. The Farm Investor Pathway (FIP)
This category is for farmers who decide to purchase and function a farming business in Manitoba. This category follows criteria for the applicant and business;
- You should have a minimum of CAD $500,000 as personal assets and in net business.
- You should do a research visit to Manitoba.
- You should have at least 3 years of experience in owning and operating a farm.
- Make sure to illustrate your practical farming skills, technical expertise, and your farming practices corresponding to practices in Manitoba.
- You should regulate a formal interview either in English or French.
- You should at least own ⅓ of the equity of the business in Manitoba.
- Your business must be considered eligible by the MPNP.
- You should offer a job for at least 1 person as a full-time employee.
- You should invest at least CAD $300,000 to establish the business’s functions.
