Unrestricted work rights applicable for student visa holders will end on 30 June 2022.
Last year’s policy from the federal government of Australia allowed ongoing students including new student arrivals to be able to work more than 40 hours a fortnight in any sector of the economy. This freed up thousands of international students to work an endless number of hours for employers in Australia, which was never the case earlier.
Australia has now revised its decision and capped the number of hours a Student visa holder will be allowed to work after 30 June 2023.
The official statement read, “The number of hours will be revised with a view to finding the right balance between work and study.”
Further, the announcement directed aspiring prospects willing to study abroad in Australia to balance their study and work commitments evenly. Foreign students must look to maintain their course enrolment, and ensure satisfactory course attendance, and course progress.
Further, Student visa conditions may be violated if holders cancel their enrolment and stop attending classes for sake of work in Australia.

“At the moment, only 16% of international students stay on after their studies end,” noted Jason Clare, Australia’s Minister for Education.

Further, Australia will invest an additional AUS$36.1 million to minimize visa processing delays and improve the recovery of the international education sector after the borders reopened earlier this year.
