The improving Canadian economy and increased demand for immigrant workers are in sync with Canada’s ambitious immigration plan. The country plans to welcome over 430,000 new immigrants in 2022 and another 800,000 by 2024.

Let’s explore various options for Canadian permanent residency for skilled workers.

Canadian Permanent Residency through Express Entry System

Since the launch of Express Entry in 2015, it has become Canada’s main pathway for economic-class immigrants. Canada Express Entry system is an application management system for three economic-class immigration programs:

  • Canadian Experience Class,
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program, and
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program.

All the registered profiles in the Express Entry system are evaluated and assessed based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

You may get more points for having a high language score, at least one year of skilled work experience, post-secondary education, and for being between the ages of 20 and 29.

You need not have prior work experience or a job offer in Canada to qualify for Canadian permanent residency under Express Entry.

Get in touch with CanApprove to enter the Express Entry pool today.

Here, we would also like you to caution that not everyone who submits an Express Entry profile will be able to immigrate to Canada. IRCC only invites the highest-scoring candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply through bi-weekly draws.

More about the current state of Canada Express Entry draws is discussed in detail here.

Qualifying for Canada PR through Provincial Nominee Program

PNPs are a two-step immigration process to Canada. First, you apply to the province or territory. If you get a nomination you can use it to apply to the federal government.

The provincial and territorial governments design these programs to suit their own economic and population growth strategies. Ever since the launch of the Express Entry system, PNPs are classified into two categories:

  • Enhanced PNPs: Use the Express Entry pool to draw candidates. It increases the chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence as they receive an additional 600 qualifying CRS points.
  • Base PNPs: Majorly for candidates whose professional experience falls under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels C and D, which are not eligible for Express Entry.

Other Provincial Pathway

Atlantic Immigration Pilot is now a permanent immigration program. Nearly 6,000 eligible candidates will land annually to immigrate to Canada. Interested aspirants can plan to settle in the region including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador.

Quebec has returned to the target of welcoming over 50,000 immigrants in 2022 after four years of cutting immigration by 20 per cent. About 65 per cent will arrive through economic-class immigration programs. Click here to know how to qualify for Quebec immigration.
