Brief Analysis Of Comprehensive Ranking System Under Express Entry For Canada PR

Anyone who is planning their immigration to Canada will across the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). It is a system for profile assessment and ranking under the Express Entry system for Canada PR.

Poland work permit

Canada started using CRS to assess Express Entry profiles in 2015.

The Express Entry CRS is a detailed and evidence-based approach designed to identify immigrants who have the best chance of succeeding in the Canadian labor market.

It is done by awarding points to all the registered Express Entry profiles based on core human capital criteria such as age, education, language skills, and work experience. Candidates are then ranked against each other based on their CRS scores.

What is the Comprehensive Ranking System?

Canada has its unique Comprehensive Ranking System for evaluating the federal Express Entry candidates for immigration under federal immigration programs as well as Express entry linked provincial nominee programs.

Eligible candidates may submit a profile into the Express Entry pool and they are awarded points based on factors including age, education, skilled work experience, and proficiency in English or French.

The highest-ranked candidates are regularly issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence (PR) through regular draws from the Express Entry pool. As Canada gears up to resume all-program Express Entry draws, the Express Entry applications for Canada PR will be processed within six months.

How to Improve Express Entry CRS score?

The biggest advantage of the federal Express Entry system for candidates is the fact that the candidates can improve their Comprehensive Ranking System score anytime. This may result in an increased probability of getting an invitation to apply to Canada PR.

Areas to improve the Express Entry CRS score include:

  • Improving proficiency in a language – English or French
  • Documenting their education and work experience correctly
  • Stay updated with active provincial nominee programs
  • Obtain a Canadian job or any other new credentials
  • Any candidate can boost a CRS score by proving they have completed secondary or post-secondary education in Canada.

Additionally, all candidates in the Express Entry pool who want to be assessed for their foreign education and/or that of their spouse or common-law partner under the Comprehensive Ranking System will need to get an Education Credential Assessment (ECA).

An ECA is used to determine the Canadian equivalent of an education degree obtained outside Canada. It is not required in order to enter the Express Entry pool as a Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class candidate. However, under the Federal Skilled Worker Class, you will need an ECA.

How are Points Awarded Under the Comprehensive Ranking System?

A candidate may be eligible to get up to 1200 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System. There are four factors under which you can gain CRS points:

  • Core/Human Captial (age, skilled work experience in Canada, education, and language)
  • Spouse or common-law partner (education, language, work experience)
  • Skill Transferability (combinations of language, education, and work experience)
  • Additional factors (Provincial nomination, sibling in Canada, proficiency in English and French)
  1. Core/human capital

Core/human capital factors can add up to a maximum of 500 points with language the highest number of points at 150 for a single applicant, followed by education at 140, age at 100, and Canadian work experience at 70 points.

  • Age:
  • Maximum points are awarded to those in the prime of their working life.
  • Candidates in their 20s score 100 points. Points progressively decline beginning from age 30, until it reaches 0 points for those aged 45 and older.
  • Work experience in Canada:
  • All Express Entry programs require a minimum amount of skilled work experience in an occupation that falls under skill levels 0, A, or B of Canada’s National Occupation Classification (NOC) system.
  • The CRS awards additional points to those with Canadian experience.
  • A single candidate with more than five years of Canadian work experience can score up to 80 points, while the minimum requirement of one year is 40.
  • Education:
  • More years of education will result in more points.
  • If a candidate with a bachelor’s degree or a three or more year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or another institute can score up to 120 points.
  • Longer programs, such as a PhD, will score 150 while candidates who have only completed secondary school will receive 30 points.
  • Spouse or common-law partner

If you are planning to immigrate with a spouse or common-law partner, you should have them estimate their CRS score using a Comprehensive Ranking System calculator.

To account for your partner, the CRS reduces the number of points the Principal Applicant (PA) can get for various factors by a total of 40 points. However, at the same time, the CRS also allows the PA to earn up to 40 points through their partner’s profile.

If they have a higher score than you, it may be a good idea to have them apply as the principal applicant to maximize your overall CRS score.

  • Skill Transferability

The CRS also ranks based on skill transferability factors. Candidates can get an additional 100 Express Entry CRS points if they can show a combination of work experience and education both inside and outside of Canada, or a combination of post-secondary education and a high CLB score.

  • Additional factors

For example, a candidate who has a sibling in Canada will score higher, as well as a candidate who has a minimum CLB score of seven in both English and French.

Another example can be that the highest number of additional points comes from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Candidates who receive a notification of interest from a province can apply for nomination to immigrate to a specific province. If they are successful in their provincial nomination, 600 CRS points get added to their Express Entry profile, which is higher than most candidates’ scores and is likely to result in an invitation to apply for permanent residency from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

For instance, in the latest Express Entry draws, 932 provincial nominees received invitations to apply for Canada PR. The automatic addition of 600 points to their base human capital score meant candidates effectively required only 196 Express Entry CRS points to qualify.

While getting assessed under the Comprehensive Ranking Score is the easiest way to qualify for Canada PR, you are free to pursue other Canadian permanent residence pathways at the same time.

Canadian Immigration via Provincial Nominee Program: Understanding Base vs Enhanced PNP

Canadian immigration via Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has shown tremendous success in recent years. In fact, Canada has been focusing only on candidates with a prior provincial nomination to apply for Canadian permanent residency since the pandemic.

PNP will become Canada’s leading economic class pathway in 2022 and 2023, accounting for over 80,000 new immigrants each year. This blog will discuss the basics of applying for Canadian immigration via Provincial Nominee Program.

Is Canadian Immigration Through Provincial Nominee Program the Right Path for You?

Canadian immigration means applying for permanent residency. Canadian provinces and territories are allowed to nominate applicants based on their local economic demands and the individual’s skills in establishing themselves within the province.

Receiving a provincial nomination acts as an eligibility certificate for temporary residence status in a particular province. Further, the doors to qualify for Canadian permanent residency open along with it.

Interested candidates can qualify for consideration through two streams: they can apply directly to a province through a base stream or get an enhanced nomination through the federal Express Entry system.

Base PNP

  • Candidates can apply directly to a province for consideration.
  • There are over 80 PNP streams throughout Canada and it is up to the candidate to self-evaluate which program is the best fit.
  • Alternatively, you can contact our expert consultants to help you suggest suitable streams based on your work and academic profile.

Once a province receives the application, it will review it to decide whether to grant a candidate a provincial nomination. The current average processing time for base PNP streams of 27 months.

Enhanced PNP

  • Enhanced nominations are the most preferred option to apply for Canadian immigration via the provincial nominee program.
  • It requires interested candidates to create an Express Entry profile on the federal government’s website.
  • Dedicated provincial streams under PNPs have direct access to the federal pool to review and nominate desirable candidates.

If a candidate is eligible for at least one of the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the provincial governments will send them a notification of interest inviting the candidate to apply for provincial nomination.

How to Qualify for Canadian Permanent Residency with Provincial Nomination?

Once the candidates have received a provincial nomination, they can apply for Canadian permanent residency. For candidates with enhanced PNP, an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points are added to their Express Entry profile.

These additional points may effectively guarantee an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residency from IRCC. The next step is to pass a medical exam and get a police check.

Once the candidate is approved by IRCC, they can complete their permanent residence landing in Canada.

For instance, in the latest Express Entry draws on June 08, 932 candidates with provincial nominations and a CRS score of 796 got ITAs for Canada PR.

Fees for Canadian Immigration via Provincial Nominee Program

The application fees for most PNPs range from $250 to $1,500, depending on the program. However, there are four jurisdictions that do not charge fees to apply for provincial nominations: Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, and the Yukon.

While the fees for applying through Express Entry with IRCC start at $1,365 CAD. This does not include the cost of biometrics, language tests, educational credential assessments, or spousal/dependent requirements.

Separate fees are to be paid to process your PNP application and then for IRCC to process your permanent residence application.

An Updated Guide On How To Become A Canadian Citizen

Canada is celebrating Citizenship Week from May 23 to May 29 this year. We thought this is the right opportunity to present an updated guide on how to become a Canadian citizen by immigration.

Poland work permit

Since the Canadian Citizenship Act came into effect on January 1, 1947, the act has been amended to reflect the multicultural values of Canadian society. Canada didn’t suspend but innovated with virtual Canadian citizenship ceremonies even during the pandemic.

Most recently, Canada made changes to provide for Canadian citizenship to foreign-born children whose Canadian parents are not biologically.

Canadian citizenship holds much significance and meaning for a lot of foreigners willing to study, work and settle in the country. For many, the promise of Canadian citizenship is a gateway to a better life.

Once you have decided to migrate to Canada, all you have to do is follow the below steps to obtain citizenship:

  • Determine your eligibility by taking the online assessment and applying for a Canada PR visa. There are 100+ federal and provincial programs to invite economic-class & family-class immigrations.
  • Fulfil the criteria for citizenship for naturalization which is 1,095 days out of the 5 years on a Canada PR visa. Once the foundation is laid, apply for the Canadian citizenship test and get a chance to attend a citizenship ceremony!

Canadian Permanent Residency vs Becoming a Canadian Citizen

There are primarily two things that an individual holding a Canada PR status cannot compete against an individual with Canadian citizenship. They cannot cast their right to vote or contest in the elections nor hold a high-level government post.

Canadian Permanent Residence Canadian Citizenship
An individual holding Canada PR is a citizen of another country but a permanent resident of Canada. Canadian citizenship allows its holders to become citizens of another country.
Any foreign individual applying to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry Programs, Provincial Nominee Programs, Atlantic Immigration Pilot, and Entrepreneur programs is eligible to get permanent residence status. A foreign individual can obtain Canadian citizenship by naturalization or by the virtue of holding Canada PR.

How can a Foreigner Become a Canadian Citizen?

For a foreigner to become a Canadian citizen, any eligible applicant would undergo a two-step process fulfilling certain human capital requirements like

  • young, working-age (25-33 years preferred)
  • education qualification (a graduation degree preferred)
  • work experience (at least one year of relevant experience in Canada or more than 3 years of work experience outside Canada preferred)
  • Language proficiency in English or French (bilingual candidates are given additional points)

Once the applicant comes good on the above factors, they are nominated to apply for Canadian permanent residency (PR) through economic-class pathways like Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program, or other pathways through Business Immigration, spousal privilege, graduate visas, etc.

Once Canada PR is obtained, any eligible resident can plan to apply for Canadian citizenship by fulfilling the following requirements:

How to become a Canadian citizen: meet residency requirements

Aspiring residents must have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days (three years) during the five years before the date you apply for citizenship. Any time spent outside of Canada does not count towards your physical presence requirements but there are some exceptions.

It is recommended to apply with more than 1,095 days of living in Canada to avoid calculation problems.

If you were in Canada as a temporary resident including students or work permit holders, you may be able to count that time toward your residency requirement as well.  However, each day that you spent in Canada as a temporary resident in the last five years counts as a half-day when you calculate your physical presence.

How to become a Canadian citizen: file your taxes

During your residence in Canada, you must have filed taxes before you can become a Canadian citizen. Even if you lived in Canada for only part of a year, you may be required to file an income tax return to pay taxes, claim refunds, and avail of various benefits and credit payments.

How to become a Canadian citizen: improve language skills

Those aged 18 to 54 must also show they can communicate in English or French by achieving a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) level of 4 or higher in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Language assessment made at the time of obtaining Canadian permanent residency can also be used to apply for Canadian citizenship.

After fulfilling the above requirements, eligible candidates must undergo a written citizenship test.

Canadian Citizenship Test Format

The candidates need to confirm their identity through the submission of personal information. Once done, the applicants have at least 21 days to complete the test at a convenient time. The system will monitor the response of candidates using a webcam throughout the duration of the test.

Eligible candidates can take the Canada Citizenship test online in any of the two official languages: English or French. Just like the offline exam pattern, the online Canada Citizenship test will have 20 choice-based questions, which need to be answered within 30 minutes.

A total of 75% marks are needed to qualify for the test, i.e., the candidates must answer at least 15 questions correctly out of the total of 20 questions. All the questions are expected out of topics like the history of Canada, Politics, Economy, Geography, Laws, rights, and responsibilities of a Canadian citizen.

Canada Labour Market for Immigrants: Work & Canada PR Options in 2022

The COVID-19 pandemic may have impacted immigration levels in Canada. But a closer look suggests that the COVID recession is different. Canada labour market for immigrants continues to have a bright future irrespective of whether they recently landed or will be landing in the near future.

Why Immigration to Canada in 2022 is Brighter than Ever?

Canada is pursuing an ambitious immigration plan of welcoming over 1 million new economic-class immigrants over the next three years. This calls for us to explore three major factors that are keeping the spirits of immigration to Canada high and Canada may achieve the annuals target.

Ageing Demography Resulting in More Retirements

Canada has about 20 million workers, of whom about 9 million are baby boomers. All 9 million of these baby boomers will reach Canada’s retirement age of 65 within the next decade. More of them are retiring which is leaving a larger gap in the labor market. This will create huge chances in Canada Labour Market for Immigrants.

Historically, Canada has been able to fully replace retirees with young Canadian graduates completing their education and entering the workforce but this is no longer the case. Canada’s low birth rate means it must rely on other sources of talent to replace its retiring workers.

This twin demographic shock is overwhelmingly fulfilled by immigration to Canada of foreign skilled workers. Canada has been able to sustain higher immigration levels in the past. Prior to the pandemic, immigrants comprised up to 100% of Canada’s annual labor force growth and this will become the norm over the next decade.

More Competitive Immigration Selection Process

Over the recent years, the Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial governments have updated their immigrant selection criteria to account more for human capital factors. This is backed by research that claims to result in stronger economic outcomes for immigrants in Canada.

For example, immigration to Canada under Express Entry prefers candidates who are young (25-35 years), well-educated, fluent in English and/or French, and with professional work experience. Other bonuses such as having Canadian education and/or work experience result in higher assessment points.

This increases the chances of obtaining permanent residence and ultimately better outcomes in the Canada labour market for immigrants.

Canadian Government Investing in Immigrant Settlement

The latest federal budget for 2022 promises some $2 billion per year to settle more than 400,000 new permanent residents annually. As a result, IRCC is increasing its investments in improving Canada labour market for immigrants through settlement services such as workforce and language training.

These services are also delivered pre-arrival to give immigrants useful information and support to help expedite the settlement process once they arrive in Canada.

Benefits of Canada Immigration

Direct PR pathway, favourable policies, and multiculturalism remain to be the marketing words for Canadian immigration. A new criterion is now added to the benefits of Canada immigration. Toronto ranked highly on equality, maternity, and wealth.

For career women like Lara Zink, gender equity is becoming an increasing imperative. “I had a 20-plus-year career in capital markets at one of Canada’s Big Five banks while raising two children as a single mom, which was both challenging and rewarding,” she says.

She remarks, “Today most women working in finance in Toronto take up to 12 months maternity leave, and many men are now taking advantage of parental leave policies, too. It goes a long way in reducing the stigma attached to maternity leave for women.”

Immigration to Canada Without a Job Offer for Software Engineers and Data Analysts

In recent times, Canada is experiencing a tight labor market with a more competitive selection process for immigration to Canada. More candidates are now selected to apply for Canada permanent residency from within the country to meet its ambitious immigration levels of over 400,000 new immigrants every year. And the latest federal Budget 2022 reiterates the fact that Canada is spending more money to help immigrants succeed.

As the Canadian economy is recovering post-pandemic, unemployment levels among Canadian immigrants are also falling to a historic low. This is once again opening up opportunities for offshore skilled workers to find suitable work or study opportunities in Canada.

The rapidly expanding tech & information industry in Canada has expressed the need for foreign talent in fields like Software Engineering and Data Analytics. Keep reading to find out your possibility to immigrate to Canada as a Software Engineer or Data Analyst and without a job offer.

Existing Programs for Tech Worker Immigration to Canada

Software Engineers and Data Analysts are in-demand occupations in Canada. Even the provincial labour market attracts foreign skilled workers in high numbers. Provincial Nominee Programs from British Columbia & Ontario nominate eligible candidates to immigrate to Canada as Software Engineer or Data Analyst via provincial nominations.

The Canadian cities like Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver continues to be the hub of rising Tech jobs & welcoming foreign skilled workers to Canada. Canadian provinces Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia are the most preferred provinces by tech workers for Canadian immigrants without a job offers.

Further, if you enter the federal Express Entry pool with a successful nomination, your chances of receiving a Canada permanent residency is effectively guaranteed. This is because an additional 600 points are added to the Express Entry candidate’s overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

For instance, the latest Canada Express Entry draws invited 919 candidates having provincial nominations to apply for Canada permanent residency. The qualifying score stood at CRS 785. It effectively meant that invited candidates had to score above 185 in core human factors like age, work experience, language proficiency, and education.

The best part of applying for Canada PR through Express Entry is that candidates require no prior job offer in Canada.

Canada Permanent Residency Through Proposed ‘High Potential Tech Visa’

The Council of Canadian Innovators released its Talent and Skills Strategy in which it supports increasing immigration levels of skilled workers like Software Engineers and Data Analysts to support Canada’s growing tech industry.

The CCI is calling on the federal government to launch a new visa pilot that would allow high-skilled tech workers to immigrate to Canada without a job offer. It should allow the visa holders to work, switch between jobs, and help them qualify for Canada permanent residency seamlessly. This pilot is based on a similar program proposed in the UK, which would allow software developers, engineers, or data scientists to enter the country without a job offer.

Presently, Canada processes temporary residence, and work permit applications for high-skilled tech workers under the Global Skills Strategy in less than two weeks. Global Talent Stream is a popular employer-sponsored work permit program under this strategy. The council proposes offshore applicants having experience in select in-demand tech occupations to qualify for permanent residence through this employer-sponsored Global Talent Stream.

Canada Immigration for Dummies Part 2: Tackling 4 Most Frequently Asked Questions

Canada has witnessed a steady inflow of foreigners who chose to settle permanently based on their work skills and otherwise. Tracing back to the modern Canadian immigration system that possibly began in 1967, the “immigration points system” has evolved considerably today. This is why we have come up with a Q&A-styled blog about Canada immigration for dummies to comprehend your chances of qualifying.

Understanding Canada Immigration 101

Canada immigration 101 lessons will give you a basic understanding of the scope of immigration in Canada. In Canada, immigration is the act granting permanent residency status, including to refugees. Furthermore, all Canada permanent residency holders are eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship after meeting certain requirements. Read this blog and understand Canada Immigration for Dummies better. Let’s begin the Canada immigration 101 lessons by answering the top 4 frequently asked questions about the immigration journey to Canada.

Q: What Language Tests are Compulsory for Canada Immigration?

IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and is one of two accepted language proficiency tests in English. The other is the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP).

The major difference between IELTS and CELPIP is the English accents. CELPIP uses Canadian accents for the speaking and listening portion of the test, unlike the IELTS, which uses English-speaking accents from other countries, including Australia and New Zealand.

IELTS is a language test designed to prove English proficiency for students who wish to pursue post-secondary study in Canada and for Express Entry & other immigration programs. CELPIP is only designated for Permanent Resident applications by IRCC.

Apart from English as a universal test of proficiency, Canada also considers French as its official language. Canadian provinces like Quebec, and British Columbia attracts a lot of french-speaking immigrants.

If you speak French, taking the Test d’évaluation de français (TEF) or the Test de Connaissance du français (TCF) can significantly increase your chances in the Express Entry pool.

The language test results must meet the Canadian Language benchmarks (CLB) for English and Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) for French. Newcomers who speak English and French can earn up to a maximum of 28 points. If you only speak one of Canada’s official languages, you can still earn a maximum of 24 points.

Q: Can I Apply for Canada Immigration along with my Spouse under Express Entry?

Of course, you can.

Every Express Entry profile has a Principal Applicant (PA). The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for the Express Entry system differs for single PAs and partnered PAs is somewhat different.

To account for your partner, the CRS reduces the number of points the PA can get for various factors by a total of 40 points. However, at the same time, the CRS also allows the PA to earn up to 40 points through their partner’s profile.

There are four components to a CRS score. The total maximum CRS score a person, either single or coupled, can obtain is 1200 points.

1) Core/Human Capital Factors: Age, language proficiency in English or French, and study in Canada or abroad can contribute to a maximum score of 460 points for someone who is a couple, but 500 points for a single person.

2) Spouse/Partner Factors: Based on your spouse or partner’s language proficiency, education, or work experience, the partner PA can get a maximum score of 40 points.

Obviously, single PAs are not eligible to gain points under this category.

3) Skill Transferability: Canadian work experience or a postsecondary credential can fetch you up to 100 points.

4) Additional Points: Those with prior provincial nominations can gain 600 points which will effectively guarantee them an invitation to apply for Canada PR in subsequent Express Entry draws.

Many even prefer to obtain Canada permanent residency as a single applicant and later sponsor their spouse under family-class immigration to settle permanently in Canada.

Q: What is the Present State of Canada Immigration?

The revised Immigration Levels Plan for 2022-2024 will welcome about 1.7 million newcomers over the next three years including economic, family, and refugee class immigrants.

However, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are said to let Canada Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) take the center stage in inviting more than 83,500 immigrants to apply for Canada immigration in 2022. In fact, Canada is more dependent on PNP to meet its annual immigration targets ever since the pandemic.

Canada has also decided to cut Express Entry admissions in half for 2022 mainly due to increasing backlogs in the FSWP & CEC applications in the pool. IRCC will return to normal Express Entry admissions levels by 2024 when it targets the arrival of 111,5000 Express Entry immigrants then.

Quebec has returned to the target of welcoming over 50,000 immigrants in 2022. This is after four years of cutting immigration by 20 per cent. About 65 per cent will arrive through its economic-class immigration programs.

The study in Canada campaign is also picking up pace in recent times. In fact, the latest statistics will entice more international students to plan their higher studies in Canada. Over the period 2008 to 2018, the annual number of new Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holders increased six-fold, from 10,300 to 64,700. Close to three-quarters of all PGWP holders transitioned to permanent residence within five years of obtaining their PGWP.

Q: What is Permanent vs Temporary Status in Canada?

Obtaining “permanent residence” in Canada is also known as “immigrating to Canada”. As PR holders, they enjoy all rights and privileges at par with citizens (i.e. free health care, free elementary and secondary education, etc.) with three (3) exceptions:

  • Permanent residents cannot vote;
  • Permanent residents cannot hold a Canadian passport; and
  • Permanent residents can be deported for certain criminal convictions.

Anyone with desirable work experience, education, and language proficiency can apply for Canada permanent residency. You can meet the requirements of one of the many categories of Canadian Immigration:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Business Class
  • Family Class

Apart from the direct permanent residence pathway, Canada also prefers transiting more temporary residence holders to become permanent residents. Such temporary residence visa holders majorly include those on work permits and study visas.

Eligibility for Canadian Permanent Residency

The improving Canadian economy and increased demand for immigrant workers are in sync with Canada’s ambitious immigration plan. The country plans to welcome over 430,000 new immigrants in 2022 and another 800,000 by 2024.

Let’s explore various options for Canadian permanent residency for skilled workers.

Canadian Permanent Residency through Express Entry System

Since the launch of Express Entry in 2015, it has become Canada’s main pathway for economic-class immigrants. Canada Express Entry system is an application management system for three economic-class immigration programs:

  • Canadian Experience Class,
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program, and
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program.

All the registered profiles in the Express Entry system are evaluated and assessed based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

You may get more points for having a high language score, at least one year of skilled work experience, post-secondary education, and for being between the ages of 20 and 29.

You need not have prior work experience or a job offer in Canada to qualify for Canadian permanent residency under Express Entry.

Get in touch with CanApprove to enter the Express Entry pool today.

Here, we would also like you to caution that not everyone who submits an Express Entry profile will be able to immigrate to Canada. IRCC only invites the highest-scoring candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply through bi-weekly draws.

More about the current state of Canada Express Entry draws is discussed in detail here.

Qualifying for Canada PR through Provincial Nominee Program

PNPs are a two-step immigration process to Canada. First, you apply to the province or territory. If you get a nomination you can use it to apply to the federal government.

The provincial and territorial governments design these programs to suit their own economic and population growth strategies. Ever since the launch of the Express Entry system, PNPs are classified into two categories:

  • Enhanced PNPs: Use the Express Entry pool to draw candidates. It increases the chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence as they receive an additional 600 qualifying CRS points.
  • Base PNPs: Majorly for candidates whose professional experience falls under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels C and D, which are not eligible for Express Entry.

Other Provincial Pathway

Atlantic Immigration Pilot is now a permanent immigration program. Nearly 6,000 eligible candidates will land annually to immigrate to Canada. Interested aspirants can plan to settle in the region including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Labrador.

Quebec has returned to the target of welcoming over 50,000 immigrants in 2022 after four years of cutting immigration by 20 per cent. About 65 per cent will arrive through economic-class immigration programs. Click here to know how to qualify for Quebec immigration.

Immigrate to Canada with CanApprove

Overall, there is a positive outlook for newcomers. The overall experience for newcomers to Canada will depend on the kind of lifestyle and region they choose. And as Canada is expecting a strong immigrant employment growth built into the next few years, get in touch with a certified immigration consultant to guide you throughout the process.

Even though the Government of Canada treats all applications for Canada Visa equally, whether they apply through a consultant or not, the overall process can be overwhelming.

Several aspirants apply for Canada Visa on their own and are subsequently approved each year. However, most may be limited to study visas or permanent residency applications through Express Entry. Application for Canadian permanent residency through other economic-class immigration pathways like Provincial Nominee Programs are less explored when applying on their own.

An application for immigration to Canada processed through a Canadian immigration consultant will analyze 100+ Canadian immigration programs and suggest suitable immigration programs based on the applicants’ work or academic profile.
