Canada is steadily recovering from the onslaught of the pandemic. And the country is seemingly more dependent on the immigration of skilled workers, business people, international students to sustain its growth.
In fact, Canada has pledged to invite over 1.2 million new immigrants in the next three years. This commitment has time and again come to light with the regular conduct of nomination draws, immigration priorities being outlined in Canada’s Budget 2021.
It is also expected that over 60% of the said target will be fulfilled under the economic-class programs including Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs, Business entrepreneurship programs.
Options For Permanent Residency
Express Entry: Ever since its launch in 2015, Express Entry been the main pathway for skilled worker immigration in Canada. The Canadian government aims to process permanent residence applications through Express Entry in six months or less.
Express Entry system manages the database of three programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skills Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). It creates a pool of foreign skilled workers who are evaluated & ranked based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Following factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency in English or French are considered for assessment.
Provincial Nominee Programs: Canadian provinces cannot issue permanent residency on their own. However, they can nominate eligible foreign talents to apply for provincial nominations. These nominations will effectively result in permanent residency under the discretion of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Most provinces have different streams that have different immigration requirements for groups of students, business people, skilled workers, and semi-skilled workers
So far, close to 80,000 foreign immigrants have already been invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada in 2021. You can review the Canada nomination draws for PR in the months of January 2021, February 2021, March 2021, April 2021 by clicking on the respective links.
