Interested Sponsors Now Invited by Canada to Apply for Parents and Grandparents Program

The Canadian Government has been making continuous efforts for reuniting the families and at the same time to meet its immigration goals for the year. One of the multiple things that the Canadian Government has planned is to have a target of 20,000 complete applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program.

The Canadian Parents and Grandparents program allows citizens of Canada and Canadian Permanent Residents who have been aged above 18 years to sponsor their parents and grandparents and migrate to Canada. IRCC for this year has a target of reaching 20,000 complete applications for the year 2019.

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada stated that the invitations are issued to interested sponsors in the same order they received the Interest to Sponsor Forms (forms that were received on the 18th of January). The first round of invitations was issued on the 24th of April and IRCC has stated that it may take another few days for the sponsors to receive their Invitations. IRCC has also stated that it might be conducting another round of invitations if it falls short to meet the target set for the year 2019. An interested sponsor who has received an invitation will only have 60 days to submit a complete sponsorship application.

An individual who has received an invitation should be submitting two complete applications at the same time (one is the sponsor application and the other is from the parents & grandparents) and IRCC has notified that sponsors should make use of all latest forms and read the instruction guide carefully before attempting to fill the form.

Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs Bring New Opportunities for the Year 2019

Canada has been welcoming immigrants actively during the year 2019 which has made things better both for the immigrants and the Canadian economy. The relentless efforts of the Canadian government all focused and set to take in more immigrants and meet the immigration targets seems to go well, not to mention the Provincial Nominee Programs that has brought new opportunities for immigrants this year.

Provincial Nominee Programs are the immigration programs that every province has for itself which allows the province to nominate immigrants from the Express Entry Pool to obtain a Canadian PR. Out of the multiple provincial nominee programs Canada has, this article focuses on four key Provincial Nominee Programs and their developments this particular year:

  • Saskatchewan revising its in-demand skilled occupations list on the 4th of April.
  • Ontario creating a record nomination allocation this year.
  • Nova Scotia targeting financial auditors & accountants in its Labour Market Priorities Draw.
  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program’s ongoing renewal.

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan in its five draws conducted this year issued a total of 817 invitations. Saskatchewan revised its in-demand occupations list within the province, resulting in adding 13 new occupations, moving it from 20 to 24 (and nine occupations were removed).

It should be noted that Saskatchewan’s in-demand occupations list will be modified regularly according to the needs of the labour market. The revised occupation list will be applicable to Saskatchewan’s about to come Expression of Interest draws (both Express Entry & Occupation In-Demand sub-categories) which will be conducted by the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program.

Ontario

The streams of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program – the Human Capital Priorities Stream, French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream and Skilled Trades Stream are all linked to the Canadian Express Entry System allowing the province to nominate candidates from the Express Entry Pool. What’s more beneficial is that a job offer is not mandatory to be eligible under any of these streams.

During the month of March 2019, Ontario revealed that it will be able to nominate 6,900 candidates for a Canadian Permanent Residence which is actually an increase of 300 over the previous year.

Also, Ontario’s popular Master’s Graduate Stream opened on the 5th of March to 1000 new registrations but was unfortunate and crashed due to a technical problem, allowing only 333 submissions to take place.

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia with its Express Entry linked Labour Market Priorities Stream invited financial auditors or accountants in the first quarter of 2019. The draw held on the 24th of January selected candidates who had CRS Scores between 400 and 450.

The Labour Market Priorities Stream Draw allows Nova Scotia to nominate candidates who match the required criteria from the Express Entry Pool. Candidates to date have not been asked for a job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia. It should be noted that the Early Childhood Educators were also invited under the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream Draw.

Manitoba

Manitoba had two new pathways added to the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas. This is actually a part of the renewal program. The renewed Skilled Worker Overseas: Human Capital Pathway criteria was planned for the month of February but have not come into effect yet. Manitoba’s Human Capital Pathway is for foreign skilled workers with previous years of work experience in a highly demanded occupation by Manitoba.
